Full Description
Five undated skeletons, all aligned east-west, were found to the north of the Methodist chapel in 1981. The chapel did not have a burial ground, and the date and significance of the skeletons is unknown. A single corroded iron buckle, also undated, was the only other find made. It is evident that these skeletons form part of a much larger cemetery. {1}{2}
Further research of the skeletons, including radiocarbon dating, was conducted in 2000. The skeletons are now thought to date from the middle to late Anglo-Saxon period. {3}
