Full Description
POSSIBLE LONG BARROW/MORTUARY ENCLOSURE RECORDED BY RECONNAISSANCE IN 1995. {1} THIS HAS BEEN INTERPRETED AS A LONG BARROW. IT IS SITUATED ON THE TIP OF THE LOW SPUR AT THE HEAD OF THE VALLEY, BELOW THE RIDGE SUMMIT, WITH THE LONG AXIS TRAVERSING THE CONTOURS, AND IT ALIGNED NE-SW. IT IS A TRAPEZOIDAL, SPOON-SHAPED ENCLOSURE WITH CONVEX TERMINALS, RECORDED AS CROPMARKS. THE SPELLOW HILLS LONG BARROW LIES ON THE LOWER SLOPE, 120M TO THE SOUTH, AND ON A DIFFERENT ALIGNMENT. {2}
