Full Description
41787
The site of a disused windmill, Friskney. {1}
This small tower mill was built at very little expense in the early 19th century using gearing and other items from a dismantled drainage mill. It worked by wind until about 1920 and was then engine-driven for several years. The tower stands capless, used as a store. It had two common and two spring sails, which were removed in 1928 and drove a pair each of French and grey stones. The cap was not the usual ogee type but was gabled and was winded by a braced tailpole, typical of drainage mill practice. {2}{3}
