PRN 34029 Two houses, nos 25 and 26 Scotgate, are the survivals of a layout of sixteen single room tenements arranged in two back to back rows built in 1796. Approved by the Town Council in 1794, these tenements were built as an attempt to provide cheap accommodation for the poor of the town. The houses are known as Corporation Buildings. This pair of houses comprise six of the original dwellings and are of three storeys with a vaulted cellar and coursed rubble walls. The ground floor bow windows are nineteenth century additions. {1}
