Full Description
Seventy-three Roman coins were found in the parish of Carlby in 1826, and in 1878 several Roman urns were dug up. The exact findspots are unknown. {1}{2}{3}
'Feb. 1937. At Carlby were found 100 copper coins of Constantine the Great (306 - 337 AD), in fine preservation; half of them were in a small urn 4" in height, and the rest were loose. They were discovered in an enclosure called Holmes Paddock, which is intersected by an elevated ridge… The ridge having been lately pared away, the treasure was thus brought to light.'
The findspot is believed to be roughly in the area of TF 05 14. {4}
