Full Description
This building is an early C19 structure of 3 storeys, the walls being of brick in English Bond on a plinth of ashlar derived probably from Bridge End Priory. The roof is pantiles, in bad repair, with several missing, & most of the ridge minus its capping. In either gable is a small door, while on the first floor front is a door with a hoist above it. It is known locally as 'The Post Office' as it formerly had a letter box set in the front. It is now used for storing potatoes, for which the thick walls make it suitable. Other than the fact that it is a farm building of character in an area where many outbuildings are rapidly disappearing, it seems to have no special merits. The roof is the main problem - the remainder seems to be quite sound. {1}
Bridge End, Horbling. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with L-plan range plus detached buildings to the third side of the yard. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {2}
