Full Description

Coin hoard of 11 Constantinian folles, found c.1850 by Ermine Street, Stamford. Now in Lincoln Museum (Hoard Index 31). The hoard was wrapped in newspaper of 1850 date. {1}{2}{3} 'Found by 'Old Roman Road' (Ermine Street?), Stamford in 1850. Note at foot of Lincoln Museum record reads 'The hoard came to S. Rigold c.1950 and was wrapped in a newspaper of 1850 on which was written 'Constantinian hoard, Old Roman Road, Stamford'.' (Paper not preserved).' A total of 11, 4th century AE coins, ranging from Constantine I to Constans I (306 - 350 AD) were recorded. {4}
