Full Description
Earthworks of a ditched rectilinear enclosure, to the south-east of Stapleford. The feature is clearly visible on an aerial photograph taken in April 1947, though is not depicted on any historical Ordnance Survey map editions for this area. The ommision of this feature from OS mapping would suggest it was created during the Second World War, and was backfilled at some point around 1950. The feature is visible on more recent Google Maps satellite imagery layers as a largely levelled earthwork, and can also be clearly discerned on lidar data of this area. The exact function of the feature remains uncertain however. {1}{2}{3}
