Full Description

Site of a former school seen on the 1887 and 1905 OS maps of Dry Doddington. A small building comprising a single rectangular range with a small porch on the west elevation. {1}{2} The school was built as a National School in 1872. It was closed on 21st May 1926 and re-opened on 14th January 1929 for children under the age of nine, with older children being transferred to Claypole and Long Bennington Schools. The school was closed for good on 28th March 1961, with the remaining pupils transferred to Claypole and Long Bennington. {3} After closing, the school building appears to have been used as a village hall. Prior to the construction of a new village hall on the same site, it was condemned and demolished in the mid 1990s. {4}
