Full Description

Originally probably a 17th century thatched house which was probably converted into a public house in the 19th century. The original part of the building is rectangular in plan, one storey with garret and a pantile gable roof. The front elevation (eastern elevation) has a central door to the ground floor, flanked by two modern casement windows. The right window is under a portruding section of the building with a short lean-to roof. The roof's front elevation has two gabled dormers and a modern skylight in between. The 17th century structure had a later extension added to the rear with the same form but with a less-steep roof which forms an M-shaped double gable roof to the whole of the building. This extension is likely to be early 19th century in date, from the probable time the public house was established. To the rear of the main building there is long rectangular-plan red-brick outbuilding, now attached to the main building, which was possibly the public house's stables. {1}
