Full Description

Former school. Two storey stone building, under a pitched gabled tile roof. Single storey porch to front, with stone hood mould above window opening, and datestone or dedication plaque above that. Modern adaptations include a new roof, possibly increasing the building height, and a large sloped-roof dormer. {1} White's 1872 Trade Directory states that the school was built in 1867, with a residence for the teacher. It was paid for by the trustees of Browne's Hospital. {2} The building is shown in its current plan form on the 1904 OS map of the village. {3} The school was closed in August 1982. {4}
