Full Description

Former National School. L-plan dark brick building under a pitched gabled slate roof. The porch gable has a dedication stone above the door. Stone hood moulds on doors and windows. Buttresses between bays. The building was substantially enlarged in the mid-late 20th century to provide space for the library. A small range to the west of the extant building appears to have been demolished since 1905. {1}{2}{3} White's 1872 Trade Directory states that Pinchbeck had a National School attended by around 100 pupils, which was due to be 'considerably enlarged'. It is assumed that the school mentioned here is the building on this site. {4} It is unclear when the building ceased to be used as a school.
