Full Description

Former school building. Buff brick building in English Bond, under pitched gabled roofs of tile. Crow-stepped gables. One large ridge stack with four chimney pots. Dentil course at eaves height. A modern single storey brick entranceway with a flat felt roof has been added to the south of the the building. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the National School was built in 1849, funded by subscription and grants. {2} White's 1872 gives a date of 1848 for the construction of the school, and that it was built at cost of £600 by the Rev. E.L. Bennett. At the time it was attended by 100 pupils. {3}
