Full Description

Primary school. One/two storey red brick building in English Bond, under a pitched gabled tile roof. One lateral stack on the single storey range including a dedication stone, and two large ridge stacks on the two-storey cross-wing. Gables are parapeted and coped, and have corbells at the gable shoulders. Dressed ashlar door and window surrounds, weathered in some places. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the Free School in the parish was founded by Lady Ann Fraiser in 1764, though the school had fallen down and was due to shortly be rebuilt. A schoolmaster's house was also mentioned, though it is not clear where this was situated. {2} The school is still in use.
