Former school. L-plan building of yellow brick in Flemish Bond, under a pitched gabled slate roof with large Palladian arched windows. Windows are modern uPVC replacements. Three small ridge stacks. A separate building behind the school may be a school master’s house. It is a three bay detached house of yellow brick, under a concrete tile roof with two gable stacks. This building existed on the 1887 OS map of Willingham, though it is not marked as being a school. On the 1906 OS map, it is marked as a school. Documentation from the Lincolnshire Archives suggests that Willingham Board School opened in January 1877. A school is mentioned in White’s 1872 Trade Directory, and is described as being ‘well attended’. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6}{7} There is evidence that another school existed in the parish in 1818 but failed. This school became Willingham Council School in 1903, and was known as Willingham County Primary School by 1947. From 1951 until 1974 it was known as Willingham by Stow County School. From 1975 it was again known as Willingham County Primary School. The school was closed on 7 August 1995. {8}
