Full Description

White's 1856 Directory of Lincolnshire states that there was a Girls' School built by subscription in 1842, at the cost of £200. A John Knights is listed as the local 'free schoolmaster' and there is a Mary Ann Harvey listed as the local schoolmistress. {1} The original building was an L-plan of red brick construction. It is present on both the 1886 and the 1907 Ordnance Survey maps of Blyton in this form, but has since undergone significant expansion and alteration. The majority of the front elevation appears to have been rebuilt with large modern uPVC windows, and another cross-gable range has been added to the rear. {2}{3}{4}
