Full Description

The former stable blocks at Mill Farm, Saxilby, were the subject of a programme of historic building recording, conducted in March 2012, prior to their proposed demolition. The buildings are of several phases, though are all constructed of red brick with gabled roofs of red clay pantiles. The earliest part of the range dates to the mid 19th century, comprising a single-storey stable block at the north-west corner of the range. An additional single-storey block of stables and tack room was added to the south of this initial structure in the mid to late 19th century, along with a further single-storey stable block to the east. Further alterations were made in the 20th century, with the heightening of the southern stable block to two-storeys, the addition of a porch on the western elevation, and the adjacent construction of modern toilets and a store room. {1}{2}
