Full Description

The remains of a former wooden vessel of probable 20th century date, on the western side of the River Witham, Boston. The vessel was included in a photographic survey of wrecks along the Witham foreshore, conducted in October 2013 prior to their removal. The vessel was clinker-built and featured a transom stern with an interior wooden mounting for the engine. It was constructed in the double diagonal method, where thin planks are laid over a mould at 45 degrees to the keel, suggesting it originally functioned as a Royal Navy lifeboat, before being converted to use as a fishing boat. {1}{2}{3}
