Full Description
This complex of agricultural buildings was the subject of photographic recording, conducted in August 2012, prior to their proposed conversion. The group comprise a two-storey cart shed and granary, with single-storey stables and shelters to both sides, arranged in a classic Victorian crewyard form. All of the structures are built in local ironstone with brick dressings to the windows and doors, and feature roofs of Welsh slate. The complex is thought to be contemporary with the adjacent farmhouse, which has been dated to 1868, although significant alterations and partial demolitions have occurred, particularly to the roofs of the side ranges. {1}
A more detailed programme of building recording was conducted of the agricultural outbuildings in March 2014, immediately prior to their conversion. The buildings are built of roughly coursed Tealby ironstone blocks, and feature limestone quoins and brick dressings to the doors and windows. The farm constitutes a typical planned example of the 'High Farming' movement of the mid to late 19th century. {2}{3}
