Description
ALFORD EAST STREET TF 4476-4576 (west side) 5/7 No.3 20-5-53 II House. Early C18, raised and refronted late C18. Red brick, partly in English bond with stucco dressings, hipped pantile roof with single gable and 2 ridge stacks. L-plan. 2 storey with brick dentillated eaves course. The original front of 5 bays with plinth and first floor band, faced the road, and the blocked openings can still be seen, including the site of the central door. The main front is now on the side and is of 6 bays arranged 2:2:2, the central bays being slightly advanced and pedimented. The central half glazed door has a traceried fanlight with panelled reveal and simple Greek Doric porch with entablature, flanked by pairs of tall glazing bar sashes, the left hand one being converted to a French window. To first floor are 6 glazing bar sashes. All windows have painted splayed lintels with raised keystones. In the gable is a blank semi-circular headed opening with raised keystone.
